North American touring season is upon us and luckily for us we get tons of awesome shows in the Bay Area. On this Friday evening we found ourselves going to the famed DNA lounge for a very unique and entertaining show. We have seen Korpiklaani a few times before and it is always a party, the same can be said for pirates Visions of Atlantis and their intense shows. Hailing from Switzerland, Illumishade is a band we have never seen before but it features more than a couple members of Eluveitie, but has a very different style. Kicking off the night, Illumishade led by the charismatic Fabienne Erni started off the night with a very engaging and intense set.

The time flew by and the band’s set was over before we even knew it. We definitely enjoyed their music and the diverse set of ideas in it, so make sure to show up early to catch the band live. Next up we have Austrian Symphonic Metal outfit Visions of Atlantis and their pirate themed music. With all their shows always featuring solid audience involvement and even participation in the shape of everybody rowing during one of the band’s songs, we were up for a treat with these guys.

Getting better and more confident every time we see the band live, this show was top notch and definitely one of their best. The preview of a song from their upcoming release was a treat and an extra reason to catch them live with this tour package. Never settling for just having a backing track with all their Folk instruments, Korpiklaani always delivers a super energetic show with a constantly rotating stage presence, the crowd always gets to see each instrument up close as the band dances the night away on stage.

Playing all the favorites and also new tracks from the just released “Rankarumpu” album, the band’s energy is instantly felt by the attendees, with many of them dancing and headbanging the night away. Closing with an encore of some of their drinking songs with “Beer Beer” and “Vodka”, the band left on a high note. Definitely one hell of a live show for anybody that is on the fence on attending this tour, so do not miss out!
