Shows on a Sunday night are usually a hit or miss in the Bay Area, however, something was completely different on this one as it was fully packed, even more so than some Friday or Saturday shows we have attended. The crowd was quite eager and excited, I don’t think we have ever seen as many Blind Guardian t-shirts or people in costume together outside of fantasy conventions. Opening the night we have California Heavy Metal juggernauts Night Demon and their high-octane music. We have never seen these guys before and from what we can hear from the people in the crowd, these guys will kick some ass.

After a solid opener and some pretty epic songs, particularly “The Chalice” and its theatrics, the expectation within the crowd was only growing to see our headliner. It has been a while since the band last toured the USA, 2015/2016 we believe, so everybody was definitely eager to see the band. Hansi Kürsch and company have always given excellent shows and we were ready to see the band playing live for over 80 minutes.

Featuring songs from the band’s main eras, we got a wide variety of tracks, from acoustic ballads to Power Metal anthems. People were headbanging, some people even started a circle pit for a while, but it was a very festive vibe with people singing along to all the songs and some others decked out in Tolkien-esque costumes for the occasion.
Overall, we had a great time at the show and would like to thank the people at the Regency Ballroom for figuring out some issues with our credentials and always allowing us to do our job. We also like to thank Kristin Torres at Nuclear Blast for making this coverage possible.
