2017 was a great year for music in terms of crazy good releases from established bands including some highly anticipated albums. Our list tries to pick albums from all genres as you can side for the wide variety of bands.
Honorable Mention: Sabbath Assembly - Rites of Passage (2017)

Five years in the making and with huge expectations, Wintersun delivered a very epic and catchy release that put (some) fans at ease, being completely worth the wait. |

9. Alestorm – No Grave but the Sea (2017)

Everybody's favorite pirates return with a heap of catchy songs and wacky lyrics. The band continues to have fun with their concept and have gradually been improving on the musical side of things as well. |

8. DragonForce – Reaching into Infinity (2017)

Technically brilliant and superbly catchy, "Reaching into Infinity" further improves the band's style and musical acrobatics. |

7. Diablo Swing Orchestra – Pacifisticuffs (2017)

Extremely intoxicating and totally weird, Diablo Swing Orchestra continues to make highly unique music that is both catchy and heavy at the same time. |

6. Jess and the Ancient Ones – The Horse and Other Weird Tales (2017)

The masters of Psychedelic Rock/Metal have returned with a very clean and engaging release that propels them leaps ahead of their competition. Jess and company have unleshed another brilliant album that you should not miss. |

5. Lethe – The First Corpse on the Moon (2017)

Anna Murphy and Tor-Helge Skei continue their bizarre musical journey with another brilliant experimental album that pushes the limits of sanity. Definitely recommended for everybody looking for something unique and intoxicating. |

4. Accept – The Rise of Chaos (2017)

Needing no introduction, Accept's 2017 release oozes Heavy Metal greatness. The Mark Tornillo era continues to give us killer releases and a rejuvenated level of intensity. |

Hailing from South America, Selbst is the real deal in terms of Black Metal. The band's debut release unleashes their crushing sound filled with hate and oppression, definitely a must have album. |

2. Aetherian – The Untamed Wilderness (2017)

Being suckers for Melodic Death Metal, we probably have listened to this release over 50 times in a very short span of time. The band's music is very refined and combines elements from all the great bands of the genre, making "The Untamed Wilderness" a monumental release. |

Without a doubt Enslaved deserves the top spot in 2017, with "E" they continue to improve their masterful expansion into Progressive territories. The quality of the songs behind this release is top notch and with a pristine production, this album sounds like a million dollars. |
