Aclla – Landscape Revolution (2011)

cover

Packed with 14 powerful guitar-driven songs, today we have Aclla’s debut album “Landscape Revolution”. Merging elements from Power Metal with Heavy Metal in an aggressive fashion, we are left with pounding guitars on top of Power/Heavy Metal song structures, a very interesting approach.

Opening with “The Totem”, we can immediately tell that this distortion is not very typical for a Power/Heavy Metal release and this marks the beginning of a very interesting musical journey. Power through tracks like “The Hidden Dawn”, “Under Twilight Skies”, “Ride” and “Living for a Dream”, there is no doubt on the quality of the musicians behind Aclla, since they manage to make very good songs through “Landscape Revolution”

Reaching “Aclla”, we have a very interesting track that features great guitar solos and very weird (but interesting) tempo changes. “Overcoming” features a nice bass guitar opening before exploding into a very crafty melodic song. The hectic “Flight of the 7th Moon” delivers heaps of soaring vocal sections brilliantly paired with powerful guitar riffing. By this time we have noticed that while the band has strong elements, song-writing creativity is one of the ones they need to work on since there are plenty of Déjà vu moments.

Moving forward, we have “Trace”, probably the best song of this release due to its very cheerful and dynamic sound. The combination of keyboards and guitar solos is juts phenomenal and keeps the song going. Moving into some more ‘medieval’/experimental terrain we have “Sun n’ Moon”, a somewhat out of place track but good enough to keep us interested. Saving some of the best for last “Sunlight” delivers very nice drumming nicely highlighted by the crystal-clear production behind this release.

For a debut album “Landscape Revolution” is indeed a very promising release. We have pounding guitars, brilliant melodies and powerful vocals. While the songs are well crafted, there is still a bit of naivety behind the music and this will only improve with time, so we are not too concerned about Aclla. If you want a well crafted release that has some great guitar work and very catchy tunes, go and get “Landscape Revolution”.
