Rebellion - The Clans Are Marching (2009)

cover

Rebellion is a German Power Metal band that has some ex members of Grave Digger in its ranks. “The Clans Are Marching” is a short EP released 1 month before their next full length album. This EP features 4 songs that will leave all fans of the band and the genre hungry for more in anticipation of the new album.

While I’m not a huge fan of Power Metal, I can recognize a quality release when I hear one, and this EP is top notch in my book. The band is known for releasing high quality albums and this one is not an exception.

The bands music is a very traditional Power Metal that is simple yet elegant and catchy. Most of the songs riffs are not too complicated in nature (or even the solos) but they still create the perfect melody for listeners to enjoy the music and not get annoyed with a virtuoso musician showdown like many Power Metal bands rely on.

Michael Seifert are one of the best things of this album since they fit perfectly every song, he has a very good range and it’s showcases throughout the EP, but it’s not abused or over produced.

The title tracks kicks off intensely with some somewhat traditional choruses, and around the end the bag pipes add a great deal of originality and ‘epicness’ to this song. The use of keyboards on the second track shows the versatility of this band. Overall the music is very good since it’s melodic and easy to follow and the guitar solos provide the perfect highlights to the songs when needed.

I will be expecting the new album “Arise: From Ginnungagap To Ragnarok - History of the Vikings, Vol. III” to be very good based on this EP, and knowing the band’s quality work I won’t be disappointed.
