Drawn And Quartered – Assault Of Evil (2009)

Drawn And Quartered for those of you who don’t know are a Death Metal band from the USA that focus on playing traditional Death Metal and they do a very good job at it.

“Assault Of Evil” was recorded during the 2008 tour of the USA, the main show on the DVD was filmed in Settle and Tacoma, WA. The best part of this DVD is that it features over 24 extra ‘bootleg’ tracks from other 4 different shows, as well as 3 of the band’s music videos.

The quality of the main show is very good. By using several camera angles and very solid editing the overall production for the main show in this DVD is very professional. The sound is direct from the console so it’s crystal clear. The bootleg tracks are ok in quality giving the tracks the ‘old school’ feeling and this, in my opinion, showcases the band’s music. The music videos are pretty good and they seem to look like a metal version of the horror movie The Ring, since you get to see plenty of long hair on the screen.

In overall this DVD is well worth your money if you are a fan of the band, or even if you like Death Metal, since the band plays very well. The only setback for me is that the audio is not available in 5.1 sound, only 2.0 so this is a bit of a disappointment for people with huge surround systems to ‘feel the experience’, but other than that this DVD is pretty good.
