For a band that are the ‘creators’ of the Crust genre, this band disappeared for 2 periods of 10 years. And let me tell you, there are some bands that should stay dead and Hellbastard is one of them. With a very weird and old school sounding album “The Need To Kill” features a very awkward selection of tracks thankfully are very short. Some of them are fun to listen for a few minutes, but then they get ‘weird’ and I loose complete interest. When we review albums we listen to them AT LEAST 3 times from start to finish on a suitable environment that allows us to fully concentrate on them. And after many years of reviewing/listening to music this way I never found my self whishing an album to be over so much as I did with this release of Hellbastard. There are some banjo parts that I was not even fully able to understand why they are there. Overall you should avoid this release of randomly disconnected interesting elements but when played out together sound like a kid was playing with a bunch of old Metal music tapes, cut them in pieces and then pasted them together randomly. |
