Ufomammut – Eve (2010)

cover

Every single time that Ufomammut has released an album and we have heard it, it has taken a bit to fully sink and be appreciated. All 6 full-length releases from this Italian trio push the boundaries of madness and Psychedelic Doom Metal, leaving them a few miles away from the competition.

“Eve” marks the band’s 6th release and it’s a 45 minute one-track divided in 5 movements’ behemoth. You can truly note the level of genius/insanity behind such a crushing release that will leave you thinking for a while. The band has a great ability in creating exploratory voyages into their twisted minds in every single one of their releases.

If you never heard one of the band’s releases then “Eve” is as good as any of their releases to start. Just be warned that this music is not for everybody and many people will revolt against it, because they just don’t get it. “Eve” is very minimalistic in nature and while it has its atmospheric passages and moments, in overall the band needs little to achieve much (you’ll get it once you listen to the album).

While we are fans of Doom Metal, we like more straight forward releases than “Eve”, just for the fact that we don’t want to be sucked into the album and stay listening to it over and over until we are fully aware of what’s going on. Ufomammut is a brilliant band that does a great job in creating think atmospheres that will require a Ginsu knife to cut through them,

Overall, “Eve” is a very epic and interesting release that should not be missed by fans of Psychedelic Doom/Stoner Metal. So if you are ready for a journey, we recommend you check this awesome release and be prepared to be blown away.
