Kratornas – Devoured by Damnation (2016)

cover

Punishing the listener with 35 minutes of devastating Death/Black/Grindcore music, Kratornas unleashes “Devoured by Damnation” upon the masses. Originally from the Philippines, this band has that certain signature sound of Grindcore outfits like Deiphago. Keeping things always brutal and quite hectic, this is one of those albums that you won’t want to turn off.

Opening with the pummeling “Spit on God” and followed by “Dead Burning Christ” and “Archangels of Destruction”, this release cranks up the intensity to 11 while perfectly mixing Black Metal shrieks, crushing riffs and demoralizing drums. This two-piece outfit produces some of the fiercest music you can find, but also keeps things interesting by crafting unique riffs and heavy duty tempos.

As the album continues with the brutal onslaughts of “Evil Is Reborn”, “Devoured by Damnation”, and “Cadavers of Gods”, the band never lets the intensity come down. Usually this kind of releases never care for production values, but “Devoured by Damnation” is as crisp as you are going to get in this genre. Doing a great job in handling all guitars and vocals, Zachariah, showcases great experience and creativity when it comes to unleashing brutal and destructive tracks.

Closing the release with “World Within Demons”, the band leaves on a high note and has the listener clamoring for more. As one of the most intense albums we have received in quite a while, “Devoured by Damnation” is one of the most brutal and ravaging Black/Death/Grindcore releases of 2016. If you like speed, punishing drums and hellish vocals, you don’t want to miss out on Kratornas and their music.
