Doom Metal is one of our favorite genres, while some years lack good releases, 2017 was a very strong one. We had a hard time selecting the best albums and this list reflects a wide variety of Doom Metal variants.
Honorable Mention: Dark Sanctuary – Dark Sanctuary (2017)
Quite interesting release from Dark Sanctuary, just like we imagined their music would sound if they added Metal elements into their sound. |

Superbly crafted Progressive Death/Doom Metal from Ukraine made our list thanks to its originality and superb song-writing skills. |
7. Ides of Gemini – Women (2017)
Experimental Psych/Doom geniuses unleashed another crushing release filled with hypnotic tracks and pummelling riffs. |
6. Hanging Garden – I am Become (2017)
Mixing the old with the new, this Finnish outfit delivers a highly emotional and extremely catchy release that you don't want to miss. |
5. Evadne – A Mother Named Death (2017)
As one of the most engaging Death/Doom releases of 2017, "A Mother Named Death" features a plethora of powerful riffs and crushing vocals. |
4. Jupiterian – Terraforming (2017)
Powered by Sludgy riffs and innovative ideas, "Terraforming" is a game changing release for Jupiterian. Be sure to not miss the band's unique sound and demoralizing execution. |
3. Bell Witch – Mirror Reaper (2017)
Full of sorrow and debilitating bleakness, "Mirror Reaper" is an astonishing release that takes the band to the next level. |
Packed with high-profile guest appreances and a crushing atmosphere, Clouds managed to sneak all the way to the top of our list with their mesmerizing "Destin" EP. |
