Morbid Carnage – Night Assassins (2010)

cover

Hailing from Hungary we get yet another band that is jumping on the Trash Metal revival bandwagon, but at least they are pretty solid at it. This band sounds a lot like Kreator did back in the 80’s and we are digging this release just because of this fact.

The band does a great job at capturing all the brilliant elements that Trash had back in the day, and gives them the proper modern production values to make them sound very brutal and aggressive. “Night Assassins” is not the most original album we have heard in this ‘Trash Metal revival’ era, but it sure is one of the most old-school sounding ones.

With bands like Exodus, Forbidden, and even Kreator, giving a more modern edge to their music, we are left with a few that don’t want to change anything and just play like it was the 80’s. While some people might have issues with that, we totally dig that some bands keep the old-school style 100% alive, and Morbid Carnage is excellent at it.

With very catchy riffs and blazing fast drumming, we get a very mature sounding album with “Night Assassins”, we assume that every musician had a pretty solid (or at least long) trajectory before forming Morbid Carnage in 2007. Like we said, the riffing is masterful and the occasional solos are pretty solid. The vocals are pretty standard for a Trash Metal release and never get annoying.

The only reason we take some points off from this album is because some songs sound quite alike, and the overall sound behind the band is not very original either. While we all like to hear the same stuff than when Trash started, we also do not want to listen to carbon copies of old-school riffs. But in general the band does a pretty solid job at playing Trash the way it should be.

If you are a Trash Metal fan definitely check “Night Assassins” out, you will be surprised by the quality of music that Morbid Carnage is able to unleash to the world.
