This year we are combining both Death and Technical Death Metal into this list. Since we reviewed over 200 releases this year, and really enjoyed many of them, we will have separate lists for Progressive/Melodic Death Metal and Blackened Death Metal lists just in case you don’t see any releases in this category.
Newcomer Iceleandic outfit delivered a very diverse and entertaining release, making them claim the fifth spot on our list. |
This Italian Tech Death outfit blew our socks off with their crafty musicianship and nack for brutality. |
Legendary Sinister delivered a great dose of old-school Ducth Death Metal with this release. If you are nostalgic for some 90’s DM with a bit of a modern edge, this is the release for you. |
As one of the most stacked Death Metal bands in the scene, this release features Tony Laureano, Shane Embury, Silenoz, Cyrus, and Marc Grewe crafting some intense and yet retro sounding tunes. |
Since their 2014 return, Martin Schulman and company have been showing the new kids how Swedish Death Metal is done. With nearly a full new line-up, this album topped our list with high replay value and a timeless sound. |
