Dialith - Alter (2024)

cover

Unleashing a very lively and engaging EP, today we have North American Symphonic/Power Metal outfit Dialith with “Alter”. Featuring four bombastic tracks and around 14 minutes of music, this release is a great calling card from a promising young band. If you are a fan of bands like Visions of Atlantis, Xandria, Serenity, Delain, etc., this release will be a solid addition to your rotation.

Opening with the mysterious “Writhing Red”, the band sets a very lively tempo with some engaging guitar work and Krista Sion’s charismatic vocals. The orchestrations and atmospheric elements are subtle and never too over the top, with the band focusing more on engaging melodies and catchiness. This mood is nicely continued in the Delain-esque “Ironbound”, a song that has all the staples of the genre thanks to excellent guitar leads and a commanding bass guitar line.

Introducing some Middle Eastern elements, “Hourglass (Shadowdancer Pt. 1)” is a nice tempo switch into the superb “Shadowdancer”, a song that has a Myrath-meets-Xandria vibe. Overall, “Alter” is a crafty EP that shows the promise in Dialith’s sound. With a very crowded Symphonic Metal genre, this band has solid elements to make their mark in the North American market, so make sure to check them out.
