Immolation – Kingdom Of Conspiracy (2013)

Keeping their tradition of brutal and merciless releases, Immolation delivers “Kingdom Of Conspiracy”. Featuring 10 tracks covering 40 minutes of soul crushing music, the band shows that they can deliver powerful songs and stay fresh at the same time. Being the band’s 9th full-length release, this album showcases their maturity and evolution over the years and brings down the pain for all fans of the band.

Opening with the crushing “Kingdom Of Conspiracy”, the album feels like you just got greeted by a bag of bricks. The band’s sound is as brutal as ever and all the elements work perfectly together creating a powerful yet refined sound. The band’s combination of catchiness and brutality can easily be heard on songs like “Bound To Order” and “Keep The Silence” thanks to massive drums and cheeky riffs.

Our favorite track on this release is the moshing anthem “God Complex”. The mixture of catchy riffs, deep growls, and a pulsating bass guitar line make this track be quite enjoyable and very devastating. The band’s ability to deliver pummeling sounds with different tempos is quite excellent and they have mastered this skill on this album. For people looking for very different stuff, “The Great Sleep” opens up very unconventionally (for Immolation) and quickly develops into another killer Death Metal anthem with some excellent ‘melodic’ sections.

For the fans of the more traditional and direct, “Serving Divinity”, “A Spectacle of Lies”, and “All That Awaits Us” close this release with the crushing traditional style of Immolation. In “Kingdom of Conspiracy” Immolation has shown that you can grow your sound will maintaining the core essence of the band. This release is both brutal and very refined making it quite an achievement of this legendary band. If you like your Death Metal to be brutal and interesting, be sure to get a copy of this release ASAP.
