The Company Band – The Company Band (2009)

After listening to several bad releases this weekend it was kind of refreshing to get an album that features a ‘super star’ band playing straight up Rock.

The Company Band features Neil Fallon of Clutch on vocals, Jess Margera of CKY on drunks and Brad Davis of Fu Manchu on bass guitar. But the band it’s not just names, they manage to create very catchy music that will please anybody that like Rock.

“The Company Band” features 10 tracks of very catchy Rock riffs and melodies all of them gracefully fronted by Neil Fallon’s characteristic vocals. The combined experience of all the musicians in the band makes this band sound very mature and their sound is very well defined, something that many of the new bands have trouble finding. The Company Band has leaped all the ‘early years’ in a traditional band’s life cycle and managed to release an excellent debut album.

The guitar riffs are very catchy and well written as well as the vocal lines that flow perfectly through the songs. The drumming is probably the best that Jess Margera has ever done (and this is not too complicated to achieve). All the instruments are very well mixed and you can clearly appreciate all of them working in unison.

The band’s self titled full length album is produced by Andrew Alekel giving it a crystal clear production that only top notch acts currently have and boosts the band’s sound greatly. This release is not a half-assed album like most of CKY’s stuff in my opinion, and it comes closer to a more traditional Rock sound than most of the band members bands have ever done, making it a very solid effort for a very young band (formed in 2006).

Overall this is a very solid Rock album and I can easily put it next to The New Black’s debut album as one of my favorites of this genre in 2009. Be sure to checkout this band since it has more substance than just big names.
