Haemorrhage – Loathesongs (reissue) (2012)

Originally released back in 2000 through Morbid Records, today we have EveryDayHate’s reissue of the incredible “Loathesongs” of the legendary Haemorrhage. Hailing from Spain, this Goregrind band has made a name for themselves through violent music and sick blood-drenched live performances. In this re-release we also get a few extra songs that weren’t available on the original “Loathesongs”, but come from the band’s vast early catalogue.

The opener is Defecation’s “Megaton” blended with “Vestige of Earthly Remains” allowing the band quickly sets the bar very high in terms of crushing pace and aggressive growls. While not all covers in this release are ‘extremely’ good, the band does a nice job in keeping some of the essential elements in the tracks, such as in Carcass’s “Pyosisified” and its relentless riffing.

Entombed’s “Premature Autopsy” is the longest track in this release and it is also one of the best in our opinion. The band manages to capture the Swedish DM vibe and make it their own, making for a very entertaining cover song. Another favorite of us is the super brutal rendition of Suicidal Tendencies “Fascist Pig” song, this version will surely be a surprise for fans of ST. UFO’s “Doctor Doctor” is another one of those weird renditions that will surely have some people scratching their heads but once the main guitar section comes around minute 1:30, the song will be instantly recognized.

The last four tracks give you a good idea of how massive and brutal Haemorrhage can sound, giving you a pretty good idea of what to expect from the band if you never heard from the before. In general, we have to say that this rerelease needed since the original 2000 album is hard to find. We also think that for super fans of the band, the extra tracks will sweeten the deal and make it a worthwhile purchase.  If you are looking for the Haemorrhage version of some of the most crushing Gore/grind tracks of the 90’s, look no further and get this release.
